Bukidnon pride represented Mindanao on ABS-CBN's Tawag ng Tanghalan.
Another
Bukidnon pride made it to ABS-CBN’s singing competition Tawag ng Tanghalan. The
22 year-old Daniel Mark Jay Onahon from Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon showed his
vocal prowess by singing the 1995 movie drama “Sana Maulit Muli” – a very hit
OPM song popularized by various artists Gary Valenciano, Lea Salonga and Regine
Velasquez, the one he sang that made him the daily winner.
After winning the
daily competition, he again performed to
beat the defending champion from Luzon, sang the 1983 contemporary R&B “Time
to Reveal”, popularized by DeBarge, and
revived by Philippine’s World Championship of Performing Arts Champion Jed
Madela.
Maki beat the two contenders from Luzon and Visayas,
garnering the score of 90.8 that he got from the judges.
Maki delivered a very emotional interpretation of Sana Maulit Muli as he reminisced his late father who wished to see him perform on national television.
Daniel
Mark, known as Maki is an Electronics major from Bukidnon State University.
Also, he is a member of the internationally acclaimed Bukidnon State University
Chorale. Daniel Mark was recently awarded as Champion for the Socio-Cultural
competition’s Kundiman Solo, singing Nicanor Abelardo’s dramatic art song “Nasaan
Ka Irog” at the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools, Inc. held at
Tandag, Surigao City, Philippines.
Tawag ng Tanghalan judges Billy Crawford & Karylle Tatlonghari praised Maki for having a high and extensive tenor voice.
