Bukidnon folks, may I introduce to you a dear friend of mine who sings with a voice of an angel cascading up and down the scales like a roller coaster. Her promising talent as a soprano would influence young people and develop their talent.

Joanna Sario was born and raised in Bukidnon to a religious family and a pastor’s kid. She is the second child among the four children. Since from her childhood years, Joanna was always exposed to the good news of gospel music, the 4 siblings were trained by their mother who is a church pianist  including Joanna to sing and offer their God given talents in their church.

In year 2004, while she was a 3rd year student in Bukidnon National High School, she joined and represented Region 10 in the Kundiman Vocal Solo competition of the National Music Competitions for Young Artist (NAMCYA), a famous competition in the Philippines for performing arts and music. In the Regional’s competition, she performed well the contest piece entitled “Ang Maya” and was chosen as the winner among the entire finalists. After her triumphs in regionals, Joanna went to the next level of the competition which is the national level. The 2004 annual National Music Competitions for Young Artist was held at the prestigious Cultural Center of the Philippines in Manila. She was one of the finalists in the national level, belonged to category B/high school, and performed the contest piece entitled “Sa Batis ng Ligaya”.


After her musical career in high school, Joanna entered theater arts when she was in college. In 2007, she portrayed the role as “The Fairy God Mother” in the Cinderella Musical in Rhodellsa Hall, Liceo De Cagayan University, as well as in 2008, the same hall, she portrayed the famous role as “Maria” in the all time favorite Broadway Musical “The West Side Story”.



Currently, Joanna is one of the soprano singers in Bukidnon State University Chorale, an internationally acclamied choir who toured in Europe specializing indigenous and ethnic music of Bukidnon.
